Travel Money Tips
When travelling, you usually need to take a substantial amount of money along.
There are different methods of carrying money such as Travellers Cheques, Cash and Debit or Credit Cards. Take a combination of all three instead of relying on just one method of payment.
Travellers Cheques: They are the most widely accepted instrument around the world and the best in terms of replacement if they are stolen or lost. They should be obtained in a variety of small and large denominations. Considered the safest method of carrying large amounts of money while travelling, they often get a better exchange rate compared to cash.
Cash: Some amount of the money should be taken in cash, at least around ten to twenty thousand rupees depending on the duration of travel. American dollars are the most widely accepted currency. Have a wide variety of denominations of currency which can come in handy to pay for a taxi ride and so on.
Credit Cards: These can turn out to be a lifeline for travellers. Use your credit card for emergencies or the occasional luxury. Do not depend on them for daily expenses. Keep cash withdrawals to a minimum to avoid service charges such as currency conversion, handling fees, exchange rate, etc.
