Taking Care of Your Car's Paint Job
Taking care of your car's paint job is important as it can be quite expensive to repair and replace. Being one of the most obvious features of the car, it is also something you cannot afford to ignore. Here are a few tips on paint care:
| Getting the proper tools to wash your car's exterior is the first step. | |||
| Some of the basic tools to start with are - cotton or paint-safe washing cloth, a 12 to 15 litre plastic bucket and cleaning products that are meant exclusively for automobiles. | |||
| Remember to park your car in the shade before you start washing it. | |||
| Use a lot of water to first spray off the dirt and other objects like bird droppings before you start using a sponge. | |||
| Washing and rinsing the car in sections helps to wash off the car wash soap before it dries. | |||
| Make sure the surface is cool to the touch if you are applying wax or any other cleaning product. | |||
| Equally important to washing your car is drying it. Drying your vehicle after washing prevents water spots from forming. Water spots are mineral deposits that form the outline of drops of water on your vehicle's paint. | ![]() |
||
| 100% cotton cloths or sheepskin chamois are an ideal choice of material to dry your car. | |||
| Polyester and microfiber are a strict no-no as they can scratch the paint surface. | |||
