Tips – How to prevent a flat tyre and deal with it!

Here are some tips that can help you prevent a puncture and be prepared in case your vehicle gets stranded due to a puncture.
- Watch the treads - The prime reason for tyre burst is wearing away of the tread. Keep a watch on your treads.
- Correct air pressure - Make sure your tyres are at the manufacturer recommended tyre pressure for appropriate loads.
- Watch the side wall - Watch out for cuts, splits or bulges on the sidewall. A bulge indicates that the sidewall is damaged.
- Don’t forget the spare wheel - Keep it properly inflated at all times.
- Learn to change the wheel - It is simple enough as long as you have the correct set of tools and the technique.
- Carry the tools always - A criss-cross, cast iron wheel brace can handle the most stubborn nut. Make sure the jack is present along with other tools.
- Stable base for your jack - A short plank of wood, about an inch thick about one foot in length could come in handy.
Be prepared for Murphy’s Law. “If anything can go wrong, it probably will”. Be prepared so you are not caught with a surprise of the wrong sort.
