Walk on the wild side at Kaziranga National Park!

Kaziranga National Park in Assam, is undoubtedly the most beautiful and attractive place to visit in north-eastern India. It is the oldest park in Assam, spread over an area of 430 sq. kms. It is fringed by the Brahmaputra river on the North and the Karbi Anglong hills on the South. The National Highway 37 passes through the park area and the lush tea estates. If you’re lucky, you can even spot the rhinos and wild elephants straying near the highway.

Declared a UNESCO world heritage site, Kaziranga is the world’s richest reserve of the Great Indian one horned rhinoceros. The wildlife safari, either by jeep or on elephants, gives a great opportunity to see the fascinating wildlife here in their natural habitat. Tiger, wild boar, water buffaloes, otters, blackbucks, the great Indian Gaur, Barasingha and wild elephants are some of the animals that you can easily spot at close quarters.

And while you’re on that exhilarating safari, do keep an eye open for the birds. Kaziranga is birding paradise, attracting thousands of migratory birds - seasonally - from as far as Siberia. Then of course, the park has its own domestic species of avian beauties, some very rare and exotic - flamingoes, grey-headed fishing eagle, cranes, open-billed stork, whistling teal, crested serpent eagle, swamp partridge, osprey … and so many others, all making a feast for your eyes.

So, if you’re looking for a really, wild getaway, make Kaziranga your next holiday destination.

Packing for a Trip
Not packing properly for a trip is the easiest way to ruin a trip. Here are a few handy tips to make sure you do not spoil your trip merely due to mispacking
  • Carry duplicate copies of your passport, passport photos and tickets apart from the original ones. this will be very useful, in case you lose these important documents.
  • Split up your valuables like cash, credit cards, traveler’s cheques, bank cards into different bags and pockets, so that in case you’re robbed, you won’t be cash-strapped completely.
  • Pack a few plastic bags. They come in handy when you want to put your soiled clothes in it. It could also be used as a makeshift umbrella!
  • Wrap the toiletries in plastics to prevent leakages into your clothes
  • While packing things into a backpack, put the lighter items at the bottom and the heavier ones on top. This will make the bag feel lighter as the pack rests on your lower back. another tip is to place the things you use the most on top.
  • If you’re carrying a suitcase without a divider, a firm cardboard piece would be an ideal divider, to keep your clothes organized and neatly distributed
  • A few extra clothes, important medication and papers should be packed in a separate bag. keep this with you so that it will come in handy when you are taking multiple flights or during stopovers.
  • And most important of all, travel as light as possible. Carry only what is essential. A packing list will help you shortlist items as well as eliminate panic and last minute packing
