Just when we thought that the petrol prices had touched its peak, the prices went up again! Considering the rate at which the fuel prices are rising, every gallon of fuel that is efficiently utilized, will really add up.
It’s time to make some smart decisions on how one can SAVE fuel and cut back on their expenses. Here are a few fuel saving tips which could serve you to improve your car’s fuel economy.
Periodically, check through your car to see if there is anything that can be tossed out or brought into your house. The more weight you car has to bear around, the more fuel it burns.
Get back to nature:
Ever considered opening the windows and enjoying the breeze instead of turning on the air conditioner? It could be warmer but you can carry that extra shirt if you are travelling to a warmer place.
One of the simplest ways to save fuel is to reduce the speed at which you are moving. As the speed decreases, fuel economy increases exponentially. Driving at lower speeds could help you save that extra fuel for your car.
Accelerate with care:
If you drive an automatic, accelerate moderately so the transmission can shift up to the higher gears. Keep an eye for potential road slowdowns. If you accelerate to speed then have a break right away – that leads to fuel wastage.
Check the tire pressure:
Due to time and temperature, tires lose air; such tires have more rolling resistance which means more usage of fuel to keep the vehicle moving. Be sure to check the tires when they are cold since driving the car warms up the tires along with the air inside them, which increases the pressure and give false reading.
