Any angle you look at it from, it demands a second look. It’s really difficult to take your eyes off the Volkswagen New Beetle which has been recently launched in India. Fondly called the bug, this iconic brand, has drawn its inspiration from the original Beetle. However, unlike its ancestor, this modified version has its engine in the front.
The peculiar design looks cute all right, but at the same time, the contemporary and modern design makes it look really cool and stylish. The car is powered by a 2000 cc 4-cylinder petrol which develops 115 hp working in conjunction with a 6-speed auto box. Four airbags, ABS, electronic stability programme are all part of the package.
The rear section, dome shaped roof, the embedded round head and tail lights are all a reminiscent of the old Beetle, but the retro looks are intelligently masked by the sharp accentuated lines.
The new Beetle comes in bright peppy colours. It is equipped with fabric seats, a 6-CD changer, ABS, 4-airbags, ESP, engine immobilizers and a power steering. It also features body coloured exterior mirror housing, tail gate handle and heat insulated tinted glass.
Whatever your decision in 2010, to buy it or not, the new Beetle is here to stay and make an impact on the Indian roads in the new year.
