Posted by Royal Sundaram on 15 Mar 2010

A premium sports utility vehicle or SUV as they are referred to, the Chevrolet Captiva is the latest launch from General Motors India. Ever since it hit the Indian roads, the Chevrolet Captiva has been receiving rave reviews from all corners of the country. With a bold exterior, aggressive clear-lens projection headlamps and eye-catching grille that features the prominent Chevrolet bowtie, this SUV is sure to turn heads wherever it drives by.

Designed to meet the needs of a demanding modern family, it is available with 5 or 7 seats. The stunning Chevy Captiva will be powered by petrol and diesel engines that will make it the only such vehicle in its segment.

The specialized handling characteristics offer high levels of safety and will sustain any kind of rugged road conditions.

The sophisticated look with tall appearance, sleek roof rails, plastic side mouldings, LED signal lamps, satin silver bumpers, bold wheel arches, 6-spoke alloy wheels, tubeless tires, prism type headlamps, and chrome door handles are what sets it apart from other SUVs.

The look is carried to the interiors as well; a special mention to the flexi-seating, and steering mounted audio controls. It comes with an intelligent automatic transmission system that automatically changes gears according to the road conditions, driving conditions, and even the driver’s input. Chevy Captiva will be equipped with fully integrated audio system including a 6 CD changer with MP3 Player.

They’ve taken the safety aspect very seriously, and installed not one but 4 air bags, and similarly there are 3 seat belts. Another feature that is a Captiva exclusive is the descent control system that helps regulate downhill speed and regulates the movement without even touching the brake pedal. All this makes the ride very smooth and safe.

The Chevy comes at Rs 17.74 lakhs, which when compared to the Honda CR-V is much cheaper and more affordable for who want the SUV experience.
