Festivals in India are incomplete without delicious food and Navaratri is no exception. This festival is celebrated continuously for nine nights through out India in various forms. Goddess Shakti is worshipped and offered an amazing variety of delicacies like kheer, laddoos, pakodas, mathri etc.
All this even in small measures can add up to quite a bit since the festivities go on for 9 consecutive days.
Here are a few practical tips and preparation for you to enjoy the festivals without worrying about the negative effects of unhealthy eating.
Choosing wisely is not about restraining yourself to eat but eating a mixed platter that is good for your body. It is not about achieving size zero but it is about staying healthy and fit. Ensure that you keep your meal portions small and avoid eating very late at night.
“Veggie – delite”
If you are a non-vegetarian, making a choice to turn vegetarian during the Navaratri festival will help you not to consume fat / cholesterol – rich gravies that not just add inches to your belly but also increase your risk of heart diseases.
Eat lots of fruits as they help liver to get rid of cholesterol accumulation.
Ensure that you consume fluids in the form of lassi, milkshakes, juices, vegetable soups; green or herbal tea apart from water to stay hydrated and hasten the detoxification process.
Insuring your health is always a good option to keep your unplanned health expenses at bay.
