Just like high heel shoes and showing off the latest gadgets one owns, health is in and we got the chance to interact with a few people on their take on health

The other day at the office canteen, we ran into Padma Srinivas, our aggressive sales executive. Padma looked every bit the executive she is, straight out of an advertising commercial. We got chatting and the topic drifted to juggling roles at home and combating stress. Padma’s focus has always been her fitness. While it is not just a gym workout or a yoga session, Padma insists that she will never compromise on organic food and a good eight hour’s sleep. ” Earlier, it was always rushing from one meeting to another with a sandwich and few cups of coffee, now, I have cut down on caffeine and instead have green tea and plenty of juices and I fix my meetings in such a way that I have at least six small meals a day.”

Staying healthy is as easy as changing your lifestyle. Our neighbor has bought a swanky bicycle. He says cycling is in and it has got him a new social circle, as every weekend he pedals his way to a new destination. So, while he is climbing the social ladder, he is also beating the cholesterol levels down and cutting down on the calories.

“It’s not the minutes spent at the table that put on weight, it’s the seconds (helping)” says Sabitha, another colleague with an air of authority. Sabitha has just returned from her maternity leave and hardly looks like the haggard mom. Besides the yoga, her family consumes more fruits and vegetables, soups are part of the daily meal and she laughs when we ask her about junk food. “What’s life without a bit of spice…we treat ourselves on weekends.”

Staying healthy is not rocket science, but it is a way of life. Run, walk , laugh and surround yourself with positive people and thoughts. Eat healthy and enjoy every moment of your meal and take care of your health, so that life doesn’t overtake you!
