Have your kids converted your walls into a canvas of crayon? No worries. Sprinkle a wet cloth with baking soda and gently wipe the artwork until the marks come off. Clean and simple!

  1. 2. Clean your blinds

Combine equal parts water and vinegar in a bowl. Cover your hand with an old sock. Dip the sock in the solution and just wipe away the dirt on each slat.

Cleaning carpet stains professionally is an expensive affair. Save yourself the trouble and have a spotless carpet with the help of your shaving cream. Just put a dollop of it and clean it with a toothbrush.

  1. 4. Remove lingering odour from furniture

No one likes a smelly house. Remove any foreign smells from your carpets, rugs, or couches with baking soda. Just a sprinkle a bit over the surface and wait for a few minutes. It will absorb the odour like magic.

  1. 5. DIY solutions to repel bugs/insects

A clean home also means a home without any bugs, rodents and insects. Spray these natural solutions and keep your house safe:

  • Ants: water + vinegar + essential oil
  • Cockroaches: 2 cups of water + 2 tablespoons of tea tree oil
  • Spiders: 1 tablespoon of peppermint oil + 1 cup of water

  1. 6. Clean your tile floor

Clean grout is porous and great for absorbing dirt and grease stains from your tiled floor. Mix baking soda and water to create a paste. Rub it over the stains, let it sit overnight. Come morning, scrub the stain with a stiff nylon brush.

Give your appliances a good shine with a soft/microfiber cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Add a few drops of olive oil if you want it to be extra clean and smooth.

Half cup vinegar and half cup dish soap – that’s all you need for a good cleaning solution to get rid of build up inside your shower head. Scrub it with an old toothbrush or sponge.

  1. 9. Dust your furniture

Pick up dust, dirt or crumbs from any surface with a lint roller. Dust every day for a clean house.

  1. 10. Clean air conditioner vent covers

It’s a never-ending nightmare to clean these vents. But using the brush attachment of your vacuum makes it easy. You can also use this attachment for cleaning cabinets, binds or windowsills.

  1. 11. Clean your fixtures

Removable glass pieces, stove knobs, domes can all be put in the dishwasher for a quick cleaning. Give a drying treatment too.

  1. 12. Clean your fan blades

Cover the blades with a pillow cover and wipe them off one at a time. The dust falls inside the cover and your fan looks dust-free.

  1. 13. Clean your bathtub/sink

Sprinkle baking soda, along with a few drops of fresh lemon scent, over the surface of your porcelain/ceramic tub or sink. Scrub away the build up easily!
