Posted by Royal Sundaram on 01 Jan 2014

Is it getting monotonous to see the same old ambience inside your house every day? Fret not, because there are ways to change the look of your home, without spending a fortune. We bring to you few amazing home décor tips that you can work upon and give your beloved house the best makeover in 2014.

House MakeOver in 2014Tips on Home Décor in 2014

Go Bold with White – White is the colour of elegance and simplicity. An all-white home looks great when you know how to maintain it well. Many homemakers who are passionate about this colour would agree. White sofas and white upholstery on your chairs can be offset with dark-coloured cushions to give your home décor a fresh look in 2014. The monotony of white can be broken with different-sized cushions in the brightest hues. Your curtains can have other colours, even though you would want their base to primarily be white. Stripes and checks in a light shade can work well. So, go right ahead and experiment with white and you will be amazed at the way your home looks.

Choose a Statement Object – Do you have a visually delightful piece of art or an interesting set of furniture at your home? Choose it as a statement object and turn it into the centre of attraction in the room. Now plan and design the remaining part of the house keeping the object in mind. It is considered a better choice to choose only one object as the centre of attraction, rather than choosing many objects.

More Frames on the walls – It would be a wonderful idea to decorate the walls with frames of family pictures, art paintings and even old film posters. You may not be required to spend a lot to do so. Try to use your imaginations, bring in some vibrancy using catchy colours, and above all, incorporate a personal touch in everything you choose.

Use lighting – Creative lighting can set the desired mood in your home. Use lighting in such a way that it brightens the focal point of your room. For instance, you can use lights from the corners of your living room, focusing on the room’s centre of attraction, which can be a piece of art, or a plant. Another good idea would be to use a combination of table lamps and floor lamps. Also, consider using dimmer lights that provide a soft glow, and help create a mood in the room.

If the year is going to be new, why not get a new look to your home too! Break the monotony of the old décor and bring in some changes to your home sweet home in 2014
