National Heart Institute

National Heart Institute

The National Heart Institute is the first heart institute to be launched in India. It was established in 1981 by a group of physicians as a part of the research for All India Heart Foundation.

National Heart Institute offers cardiology treatments, cardiac surgery, along with vascular and endovascular surgeries. Other than cardiac treatments, the institute also offers services in diabetology, internal medicine, pulmonology and sleep medicine. The National Heart Institute also offers ambulance and laboratory services round the clock. It also runs a cardiac rehabilitation program within the premises.

National Heart Institute has now collaborated with Royal Sundaram, an insurance company that offers comprehensive health care plans and health insurance options, to offer cashless treatments to the policyholders. A health insurance has become a must in this age of expensive medical treatments. In case of hospitalization due to an accident, the insured can claim up to an additional 50 percent of the sum insured by the health insurance policy and can also get cumulative bonus ranging from 5 to 50 percent for every claim-free year. Royal Sundaram offers different health insurance plans with different premium payment options. The insurance covers pre and post hospitalization expenses, 147-day care procedures, maternity expenses and are tax-exempt under section 80 (D). The policies also have a lifetime renewal option and a claims process that is ISO certified. Royal Sundaram is in collaboration with over 3000 other hospitals all over India where the company's policyholders can get cashless hospitalization.
