RTO Registration Charges in Karnataka

The various types of charges levied while registering a vehicle. They are as follows:

 

  • Registration fees - to be paid by the applicant.
  • The fitness certificate fee - if applicable.
  • A fee of Rs.200 needs to be cleared for the availing the Smart Card facility.
  • For two-wheelers, the cost of a standard registration number is Rs. 6,000 and for a fancy registration number is Rs. 25,000.
  • For four-wheelers, the cost of a standard registration number is Rs. 25,000 and for a fancy registration number is Rs. 75,000.
  • For other vehicles, the cost of a standard registration number is Rs. 30,000 and for a fancy registration number is Rs. 75,000.

Procedure for Vehicle Registration

The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 prohibits an individual from driving a motor vehicle in Karnataka without valid vehicle registration. Hence, it becomes obligatory for a vehicle owner to register his vehicle at the Karnataka RTO to drive in the state.

 

Vehicle Registration Process in Karnataka:

 

  • PUC certificate
  • Sales certificate - Form 21
  • Roadworthiness certificate - Form 22
  • Age and address proof documents
  • Vehicle insurance certificate
  • Applicable application fees
  • Passport size photographs
  • Road tax
  • Customs clearance certificate in case of registration of an imported vehicle
  • In the case of loan hypothecation - Form 34
  • Invoice of the vehicle
  • Temporary registration number

 

The Karnataka RTO allots the vehicle registration number on submission of the above documents.

Application & Documents to be provided:

 

  • Form no CMV 29 in duplicate.
  • Form no. CMV 30a, if the vehicle is covered under Hypothecation/HPA/Lease form CMV, 30 shall be produced in duplicate.
  • Registration Certificate, valid insurance, emission Certificate, Fitness certificate in case of transport vehicle, Tax card with up-to-date tax paid proof.
  • Address proof in original as per rule 4 of CMV rules.
  • In the case of LMVs and transport vehicles PAN card. If there is no PAN number, then produce form no 61 in case of agriculturists and form no — 60 in case of others.
  • No Objection Certificate in form CMV 28 in duplicate declared by the previous registering authority.
  • Three passport size photographs of the transferee.
