Launched in 2014, the Etios Cross is the sub-4 metre SUV known as the rugged sibling of Toyota’s existing hatchback - the Etios Liva. Toyota Etios Cross Review and Features

ENGINE – The Etios Cross has two engine variants in its petrol option. The base variant G houses a 4-cylinder 1.2L 1197cc engine that provides a power of 88bhp and a max torque of 104Nm. The other variant housed in the top-end Etios Cross V is a 4-cylinder 1.5L 1496cc engine that delivers a power of 88bhp and a torque of 132Nm.

The diesel engine is a 4-cylinder 1.4L 1364cc D-4D motor that gives a max power of 67bhp at a max torque of 170Nm.

All the variants are fitted with a 5-speed manual transmission system for great mileage, acceleration, and high performance.

EXTERIOR – The Etios Cross boasts of a sturdy and rugged exterior design that has a silver colored grille guard over the front grille, dual front fog lamps with integrated turn-lights, body-colored door handles, and body-colored outside rear-view mirrors with attached turn indicators.

The sporty yet luxurious look is further accentuated by 15’ diamond cut alloy wheels, strong silver roof-rails, rear windscreen with wiper, roof spoiler, roof-mounted antenna, black bumper, etc.

INTERIOR – The door arm-rests match the plush and spacious piano black themed interiors. The wide wheelbase accommodates five people with adequate knee-room. All the seats have adjustable headrests for comfort. The Etios Cross has a 251 litres boot-space which is good enough in the segment.

The interiors have a remote-controlled 4-speaker 2-DIN audio system with AUX, Bluetooth, and USB connectivity. It also boasts of chrome-accented AC, heater, clean air filter, power windows, electronic ORVMs, 13-litre cooled glovebox, a 12V power outlet, front cabin lights, seven bottle holders, digital clock, etc.

SAFETY – The sporty and rugged looks are complemented well with essential safety features. The Etios Cross has ventilated disc front brakes coupled with drum rear brakes. This braking system is complemented well by the ABS +EBD. There are dual SRS airbags, Immobilizer, 3-point seat-belts for rear passengers, keyless entry, driver seat-belt alert, door ajar alert, parking brake alert, etc.
