Esic To Improve Standards To Vie At World Level

Place : Bangalore

The Employees State Insurance Corporation, which looks after the administration of the multi-dimensional ESI social security system in the country, held a conclave in the city to discuss ways in which the organisation could increase its quality levels in order to compete at the world level.

Entering its Diamond Jubilee year, ESIC is looking to brand itself and reach out to its stakeholders in more efficient ways. ESIC had earlier in September held a discussion on 'Crystalling the vision of ESIC' and Wednesday’s conclave sought to take the discussions further through technical sessions.

Highlighting India's developments in the medical sector, T K Bhattacharya, commissioner (P&A), ESIC said, "People today prefer India for treatment as the cost of insurance is much lower here as compared to other countries. We must capitalise on the situation to make ESIC a world renowned name."

He added that the ESIC has a few difficulties in the sector of primary healthcare which must be looked into and improved.

The inaugural function also saw a presentation on packaging ESIC as a complete brand and on its achievements in the Diamond Jubilee year. The second session was scheduled to be addressed by resource experts from IIM, Bangalore and Infosys with an industry perspective provided by P Sadananda Maiya, director of Maiyya's Beverages and Food.
