Medical emergencies can catch you off guard, striking without warning. No matter how cautious you are about your health, the unexpected can happen. These situations not only bring physical challenges, but also often lead to mental and financial stress. It's like having a dependable friend by your side when you're unwell or facing tough times. Free Periodic Health Check-Ups Annually

Stay proactive with comprehensive health insurance. Prioritise preventive care and routine check-ups. Choose the right policy for a healthier future.

Cover Pre- & Post-Hospital Expenses

Health insurance covers inpatient costs and extended expenses, including pre- and post-hospitalisation periods.

No, there is usually a cooling-off period of 15-30 days after purchasing a health insurance policy before it becomes active. Some policies, especially those with an accident cover, might offer coverage from the next day. Additionally, if you have pre-existing medical conditions, there's a waiting period that can range from 1 to 3 years.

Maternity coverage is typically not included in standard health insurance policies unless specified. If maternity costs are covered, there's usually a waiting period of 2 to 4 years before you can claim these expenses. However, policies that include maternity coverage often come with higher premiums.

Health insurance renewal premiums can increase over time due to various reasons. Let's explore these factors briefly:

Age Bracket Change

Health insurance premiums are often structured based on age brackets. Moving to a different bracket due to age results in a premium increase.

COVID-19 Impact

While natural disasters impact specific regions, the unprecedented scope of the COVID-19 pandemic has led to increased claims nationwide, prompting insurance premium adjustments.

Inflation Effect

Inflation significantly influences health insurance premium rates. Rising medical costs necessitate higher premiums as treatments become costlier over time.

Unused coverage doesn't result in a refund. Instead, policyholders may receive a no claim bonus, provided by the insurer.

Policyholders not making claims during their coverage period often receive a cumulative bonus during renewal. This bonus increases the Sum Insured each claim-free year, with a specified limit. It applies to indemnity-based plans upon continuous renewal.

Yes, you can cancel your health insurance within 30 days of receiving policy documents or before the policy becomes active, adhering to terms in the insurance contract.

Royal Sundaram offer grace period for premium payment, a period of 15 days in case of monthly payments and 30 days in case of quarterly, half-yearly and yearly payments immediately following the Policy Period End Date. Failure to pay may lead to policy cancellation, denial of coverage or renewal.

Yes, policyholders can transfer their existing health insurance to another provider per guidelines issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA). This ensures you can shift insurers without sacrificing benefits.

During certain medical emergencies, such as accidents, taking the policyholder to an affiliated network hospital might not be feasible. In such cases, health insurance claims are still possible, though cashless hospitalisation might not be available. The policyholder would need to cover the medical expenses and later submit the bills to the health insurance provider for reimbursement.

When making a health insurance claim, the policyholder typically needs the following documents:

  • Proof of identity
  • Proof of insurance
  • Health card
  • Hospital bills

A no claim bonus can result in either a premium discount or a cumulative benefit, translating to increased Sum Insured without additional payment. Most providers offer a 5% cumulative bonus on the Sum Insured for each claim-free year. For instance, if the Sum Insured is ₹5 lakhs, after the first year of no claims, the policyholder gains an extra coverage of ₹25,000. This accrues for consecutive years without claims, potentially doubling the Sum Insured within a few years.

When purchasing health insurance, a free look period (typically 30 days) is provided for policy evaluation. Only after this period does the health insurance policy become active.

Acquiring health insurance, whether online or offline, is straightforward. The necessary documents include:

  • Proof of identity and age: Aadhar, PAN, Passport, Voter ID card, Driving license
  • Proof of residence: Aadhaar, Passport, Voter ID card
  • Medical check-up documents

Your health insurance policy generally covers medical treatment up to a predetermined amount. As long as this limit is not surpassed, you can make multiple claims within a year.
