ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Number

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Number

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) number is a 14-digit number that will uniquely identify every individual as a participant in India’s digital healthcare ecosystem. ABHA number will establish a strong and trustable identity for everyone that will be accepted by healthcare providers and payers across the country.

It is important to standardize the process of identification of an individual across healthcare providers. This is the only way to ensure that the created medical records are issued to the correct individual or accessed by Health Information User through appropriate consent. To issue the UHID, the system must collect certain basic details including demographic and location, family/relationship, and contact details. Ability to update contact information easily is the key. The ABHA number will be used for the purposes of uniquely identifying persons, authenticating them, and threading their health records (only with the informed consent of the patient) across multiple systems and stakeholders.

What is ABHA Address?

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) Address is a unique identifier (self-declared username) that enables everyone to share and access their health records digitally. The ABHA address may look like ‘yourname@consent manager’. For instance, xyz@abdm is a ABHA address with ABDM Consent Manager that will facilitate health data exchange for each individual with appropriate consent on the ABDM network

Linking ABHA Number & ABHA Address:

Individuals can use their ABHA number to seamlessly sign up for an ABHA address and ensure that the health records created for them are shared only with them. To enable health data sharing, it is recommended that the individual create ABDM ABHA address and link it with their ABHA number.
